Tarsha has been my best friend since we were in seventh grade. Even though we are so different, it hasn't stopped us from being in each other's lives. She knows me like a book and has always had my back. She helped me focus on school and pushed me to be the best I could be. I used to wonder why in the world am I friends with this girl. She is supersmart. She is such an inspiration and role model. I call her my psychologist because she knows the right things to say and not try to just boost my spirits. She is awesome! There is no way I could get married without her.
Little Karl is our grandson. He is a handsome bundle of joy. Everytime we look at his pictures, it makes us smile. He is very ranbunctious and loves to run around. He climbs on everything. We wouldn't be surprised if he climbs mountains when he gets older. He will accomplish a lot like his parents. He has already conquered our hearts and their is nothing we wouldn't do for him and we think he knows it.
Laila is my beautiful Goddaughter. She is a lot of fun, very energetic and adorable. She also has a lot of spunk. She loves to play games and be the boss. She gets that from her momma! She is spoiled too, she gets that from me!
The ceremony and reception will take place in the Suitland Water Tower. If you've received an invitation, you can click on the RSVP button above to let us know you're planning to attend.
My mom is very supportive, understanding and smart. She taught me to be strong, go after my dreams and don't let anyone or anything stop me. My parents were married for 36 years. Watching how they were there for each other, made me long for that kind of commitment in a relationship. My mom is also upbeat and inspiring. I can call and talk to her about anything without being judged. She is so on point with technology that I actually learn about apps from her. She believes that staying focused and mentally strong helps her stay young. Go mom! I love you so much!
I believe I have the best parents in the whole wide world. They have been married for almost 50 years. My parents have always been there for me. They are supportive in my talents, my beliefs and everything I do. They have never been negative, always positive and encouraging me to do well. My parents stand by me, believe in me and show me what real unconditional love is. Everything about me, I owe to them. Thank you mom and dad for loving me and making me the man I am today. I love you.
My daughter, Keona, is the oldest of my four children. She is very enthusiastic, fun loving and has a great sense of humor. Keona graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. She is a tv, film, theater, and voiceover actress in New York. She recently became a certified Doula and is helping to bring healthy babies into the world.
LaToya is second to the oldest. She is very adventurous, smart, strong and can't be moved. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Karl Austin, and they are the parents of my adorable grandson, Karl II. LaToya has a master's degree from Syracuse University. When she puts her mind to completing a task, she does it and does it well. Anything she wants, she works hard to get. Go baby go! My son-in-law, Karl, is a great artist. He draws so well on a variety of subjects. He is passionate about studying theology and writing. He is up for any conversation relating to spirituality and anime. He also enjoys reading comic books. He attends Liberty University studying theology.
My son, Tony, puts the "A" in adventure. He has travelled to Spain, Italy, France, and Portugal. He swam with the dolphins in the Bahamas and underneath the caves in Mexico. Tony speaks Spanish fluently and has a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Foreign Literature. He is currently pursuing a law degree and having fun with friends during monopoly night.
Meriah, my baby girl, is a joy to be around. She is dependable, very caring and makes sure I stay on point. She has a quiet demeanor and a strong spirit. There is nothing she can't do. Meriah works well with her hands and likes building things like cabinets. We always call on her for help. She is a sophomore at Morgan State University studying biology. Meriah enjoys hanging with her friends and talking about anime.
Alexis is my oldest of three. She is my only baby girl. She is very sweet, polite, and quiet. Alexis is also very smart and focused. She is an exceptional violinist. You would be mesmerized by how well she plays. She currently attends Northern Virginia Community College and will be transferring to Virginia State University to study psychology. Alexis enjoys spending time with her family and friends and keeping herself looking good like a model.
Jordan is my second oldest child. He is very adventurous, humble and shy at times. Jordan is smart but sometimes he needs a little push. He is also very caring. Jordan loves to build things with his hands and he has a large imagination. He enjoys being with his family and friends and reading comic books. He loves gaming and is a master at the game called Minecraft.
My son, Aiden, is the youngest and the baby of the family. He has a heart of gold. He is extremely caring and considerate of the feelings of others. He is very shy and a bit sensitive - always willing to put others first. Aiden is a gamer just like his brother and is a master at the game called Rayman. He enjoys fishing, playing soccer, and spending time with family and friends.
Vanessa is my big sister. She has protected me since we were children. I can always count on her to have my back. She always stands by me no matter what. Vanessa is married to Jason and they have three wonderful kids (Aaron, Jasmine, and Xavier). Vanessa is very loving, creative, and has a big heart. She is also multicultural. She can get along with anybody, no matter where you are from or your nationality. People just gravitate to her. Vanessa is easy to like and she is a friend for life.
Cynthia is my baby sister. She is very loyal and outspoken. Cynthia is loving, unique, charismatic, and hardworking. She has been with her husband, Solomon, since high school. They have a handsome little boy named Malik. He is a ball of energy, rambunctious and ready to go like his momma.
We were having lunch at Cheddars in Brandywine, MD. The setting was a bit romantic. Our table was under oak handmade rotating fans that were giving us a nice breeze. The celing was surrounded by large potted plants. Mike had ribs, spinach and rice and I had chicken and shrimp with veggies and rice. The food was delicious. Michael excused himself from the table and then came back with a group of waiters. He told everyone in the restaurant to stop what they were doing. He then he got on his knee and asked me the ultimate question, "Will You Marry Me?" And of course I said "Yes!"
I was walking through the building and noticed this cute young lady looking at a screen. I approached her and asked if she was on there. She said no and started naming people. I said you know a lot of people and she said I should because I have been working here for over 20 years. She didn’t look at me at first and seemed a little disinterested and more focused on the pictures. She was taking stuff to her car and I offered to help but she declined. When she came back, we talked a little bit more. We agreed to meet when we got off at 10pm. My relief came and when I got upstairs, she was gone. I was disappointed that I didn’t get to talk to her. I ran into officer Blackshear during shift change a week later. She said she had something for me. It was a business card with Tracy’s number on it. I was thinking “Wow, maybe she was interested.” I called when I got to my second job. The story continues…
It was a Friday, my last day in my office before I began to work from home. As I was viewing pictures on a monitor in the lobby, a guy had asked me if I was in the pictures. I turned and said to myself “Hmmm he looks nice.” We talked for a little while before it was time for me to get off. We decided to meet at 10pm in the lobby but I was late and he had left. As I walked towards the main door to leave, I thought, “Serendipity, you will never know unless you try.” I walked to the security desk in my building and gave the security officer my business card. I told her that all I know is his name is Michael and he was sort of a big guy with a bald head. She said we only go by last names but she will try to find him. I told her this might be the one. She said “I got you girl!” The following Friday, Mike called and I was smiling from ear to ear. The rest is history…
